MontiiCo FAQs
Are MontiiCo bottles suitable for hot drinks?
All of our bottles are double-walled, vacuum insulated (also known as thermally insulated), meaning they are suitable for hot and cold drinks. The wide mouth opening does mean you need to be EXTRA careful with hot liquids. MontiiCo bottles provide up to 12 hours of warming.
How do I wash my MontiiCo bottles and cups?
Wash and rinse bottle thoroughly before first use, and after each use. Hand washing is recommended for best results. Putting your bottle in the dishwasher may dull the colour, damage the finish and will void your warranty. However, our new FRUITY POPÂ range is dishwasher safe!
NEVER put the bamboo lid in the dishwasher. Putting your bamboo lid in the dishwasher WILL damage the finish and void your warranty. Hand wash only and always air dry thoroughly.
Can I put my MontiiCo bottle in the freezer?
No. The force of liquids expanding as they freeze can cause your MontiiCo bottle to become deformed and can also break the weld that holds the bottle together, so we strongly advise against it. Freezing any MontiiCo bottle or cup will void your manufacturers warranty.
Why is the Silicone Lid for my MontiiCo Mini Coffee Cup loose?
Silicone can expand during transit or a change in weather.Â
Don't worry! This can easily be fixed with this âhot tipâ...Pop the lid in really hot water in the sink for a few minutes, then pop it straight back on the cup. This will mould it back into shape once it cools down. (Just make sure the lid has cooled down before giving it to the kids).
Why is the MontiiCo Silicone Bumper for my MontiiCo Drink Bottle Loose?
Firstly, make sure you are using the MontiiCo Bumper on the correct size bottle...our bumpers will only fit our MontiiCo Original & MontiiCo Mini Bottles.
This can be fixed using the same method as above for the Silicone Mini Coffee Cup Lids.
I dropped my MontiiCo bottle and dented it. Is it covered under warranty?
MontiiCo products are made of durable 18/8 stainless steel. Unfortunately, they can dent when dropped. MontiiCo's warranty covers manufacturer's defects only, not damage caused by using or dropping your bottle.
Even if you've dented your bottle, it's still totally safe to continue to use. With no plastic liner on the inside, a dent, no matter how large, will not change the composition of the metal nor make it unsafe.
Are the MontiiCo drink bottle lids interchangeable?
Yes! The original, sipper and sports caps are interchangeable for all 3 MontiiCo Drink Bottle sizes.
Do you sell lunch boxes that will fit in the MontiiCo Insulated Lunch Bag?
We sure do! Our Go Green Medium or B.Box Lunch Boxes will fit snuggly in the MontiiCo Insulated Lunch Bags. The Go Green Small/Snack size will fit with room to spare. Our Little Lunch Box Co Bento Five or Bento Three will also fit with room for a Bento Two. How do i clean my MontiiCo Insulated Lunch Bag?
We recommend unpacking your lunch bag (this includes removing the ice pack) as soon as you are finished using it, and wiping the interior of the cooler bag with a damp cloth to remove any crumbs or spills.Â
The bag should be left to air dry overnight. It is best to dry standing on the bench (or an empty dish rack) to allow adequate air flow to thoroughly dry the bag.
Ensuring the bag is completely dry each day is especially important in humid or damp climates where mould may grow.
Our MontiiCo insulated bags are machine washable! The bag should be washed on it's own, in cold water, on a gentle cycle. Use your regular detergent, and a soap or powder pre-treatment as required. Do not bleach, soak or iron.
Where possible dry your bag outside in sunlight, which naturally kills mould particles and keeps your bag fresh.Â
Regular cleaning, and drying (especially in sunlight) extends the life of your bag by removing dirt and food particles from within the fabric before they grow into mould.
Your MontiiCo lunch bag should not be placed in the dryer. It may shrink, melt or come back looking nothing like it did before.
Do the MontiiCo Lunch Bags have an anti-mould coating?
MontiCo do not treat their lunch bags with anti-mould or anti-staining treatments as these can be quite toxic.
Mould is found everywhere and can grow on almost any substance when moisture is present. Mould is a fungus that needs nutrients and water to grow, and is especially prevalent in high humidity and tropical environments. Â
To prevent mould from growing on your MontiiCo lunch bag:
- Always use the included ice pack in conjunction with the black fabric ice pack cover. The cover is designed to reduce the amount of condensation that forms inside the bag
- Make sure the ice pack cover isn't wet or icy when you place in the bag
- Empty the lunch bag as soon as it comes home - including removing the ice pack
- The bag should be left to dry overnight. It is best to dry standing and open on the bench (or an empty dish rack) to allow adequate air flow to thoroughly dry the bag. Â Donât store wet bags in a closed space (like a cupboard, backpack or locker) where it is easier for mould to grow.
- Wash your lunch bag regularly, and at first sign of staining  - in order to give the best change of removing dirt or food particles from the fabric BEFORE mould grows. Dry in the sun for a natural mould inhibitor.
MontiiCo Backpacks
HOW MUCH DO THE BACKPACKS WEIGH WHEN EMPTY?
Our Backpacks weigh approximately 700g when empty.
WHAT AGE DO YOU RECOMMEND THE BACKPACKS FOR?
Our MontiiCo Backpacks are pretty spacious, so they are best suited to primary school aged kids and up. The Backpacks feature our custom, easy grip MontiiCo zips so are easy to use for little hands.
HOW DO I CLEAN MY MONTIICO BACKPACK?
You can wipe clean the interior and exterior of the Backpack with a damp cloth for any small spills.
Our Backpacks are machine washable - so it couldnât be easier to keep them clean! Theyâre a little shy and need to be washed on their own, unzipped, in cold water, on a gentle, longer cycle. Fast cycles tend to have a vigorous spin which can damage your Backpack. Remember to remove the carabiner (the little metal hook thingy) from the front pocket before washing!
Normal detergent is fine, but please donât put in any fabric softeners or stain removal products as this may discolour your Backpack. Do not bleach, soak or iron.
If your usual wash doesnât remove staining, make a paste from laundry powder and water and apply it directly to the stained area. Gently brush into the stain, taking care not to damage the fabric. Leave for 15-20 minutes before machine washing.
Backpacks should be dried with all zips open. We love to dry ours outside on the washing line! Please donât put your Backpack in the dryer! It may shrink, melt or come back looking nothing like it did before.
